From Early Childhood through High od体育, students at Léman are exposed to World Language study at every level. The World Languages department at Léman believes that studying another language helps students develop their global awareness and a deeper understanding and appreciation of other cultures.
In Kindergarten, students choose among Mandarin, French and Spanish as the language that they will continue throughout Lower od体育. They meet three times a week with dedicated Early Childhood Educators who are also native speakers of the languages they teach.
Each Friday this spring, Kindergarten World Language Spanish students are broadening their horizons and getting an in-depth look at Spanish speaking cultures on virtual trips to the diverse Hispanic countries around the world in "Viajando: Traveling Around the Hispanic Countries". These young learners start each class with a virtual trip on Google Earth to one of 20 Spanish-speaking countries around the world where they watch informative videos and participate in discussions about their observations. They end each lesson by coloring the country's flag and placing a stamp in their self-made international passport, a physical marker of a step towards becoming true global citizens.
